I have 22 years experience treating PTSD, Bipolar/Depressive Disorders, Substance Use Disorders, Adjustment Disorders, Stage of Life issues, and much more. I am an advocate for 12 Steps approach to recovery, utilizing principles from the Big Book, The Gorski Model of Relapse Prevention, Motivational Interviewing, and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy developed by Albert Ellis. The GMRP is a system for treating substance use disorders and relapse prevention. It was developed by Terrence Gorski, who was a pioneer in the field. I enjoy working with whatever level of personal philosophy or spirituality you want to incorporate in sessions. I have experience with/ not limited to: Atheist/Humanist, Agnostic, Buddhist, Catholic, LDS, Protestant, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, Metaphysical/New Age, Indigenous/Native American traditions.My therapeutic environment is inclusive, supportive and effective for persons of any culture, gender identity, sexual orientation and lifestyle, partnership style, family structure ability, learning style, and country of origin.Now taking virtual private pay clients! I am currently developing curriculum for a virtual group, providing counseling concepts from a Nature Based perspective. This is a safe space for people who are spouses/partners of addicts. Counseling & Therapy for ADHD in the Valley
Stephen Richie, M.Ed., MS., LPC offers individual counseling, and child counseling for ages 12 years old and older. Primarily using Cognitive Behavior Therapy techniques to address the inevitable emotion based challenges. Steve is the ultimate ADHD counselor due to his history with ADHD coaching and additional knowledge of how executive function deficits affect everyday life. Steve is a former Christian school & public school administrator and can assist parents navigating getting accommodations to help children improve academic performance in the classroom.
Steve's goal for his clients is to help them become their best selves tapping into God-given talents and internal sources of strength. He recognizes the blessings and challenges of having a mind that operates faster than others’. His approach is supportive and structured within a nonjudgmental environment. If welcome, he can incorporate Biblical concepts also.
